Misti Rose’s Outlook won’t come up
Misti came in our office and reported that she can’t get to her email. She’s getting an error message that says the server is not accessible. I knew there’s nothing wrong with the email server because everybody else is working just fine. I looked at her Outlook profile to make sure her settings are good. Everything looked good, but to make sure she connects to the server right, I removed her email account and added it back again. I opened Outlook again and it seemed like it was opening up, but it gave the error message again. Then it occured to me that on her profile, her default destination was a PST file and not her Exchange mailbox. After switching her default destination to the Exchange mailbox, her Outlook opened up fine, except for another pop up asking for a password for another PST file. I just cancelled out of it. When I tried to expand the PST files or look at their properties, I get an error that they are not accessible. She told me she really did not need anything from those PST files. I closed her PST files so they do not appear on her Outlook screen anymore.
When I looked at the Park Camino server backups to change the tapes, I noticed it was in the middle of backing up Misti’s PST files when it ran out of tape. The backup locked up the file while it was backing it up. That was the reason Misti was not able to access it.
